I own the orignal classic controller. August 30, 2010 eboyer93 (Pennslyvania) I own the original classic controller and it is very comfortable to use when you need to use the analog sticks. After buying Ocarina of Time, I used the classic controller for awhile but it was to uncomfortable to use for awhile. So I went and bought this.
This is a much more comfortable controller just about as comfortable as the Playstation controller, I give four stars because they should have released a controller like this in the first place.
Also, the wire now comes from the top which is much better than coming from the bottom.
It is a much need improvement over the original and I recommend it to people who find the original uncomfortable to use and people who don't have one yet. It is a great controller.
Great controller August 26, 2010 Anastacia Russell (Indianapolis, IN United States) This controller works great! It plugs on the end of the Wii remote. It will only work for games that have classic controller compatibility. The joystick makes walking around much easier. I would recommend this for games that support it.
Concerns laid to rest... August 13, 2010 Shane Allen Windham (Dallas, TX) The only real thing I can warn people against with this controller is that certain 64 games don't feel as 'natural' as they did with the N64 controller. My sisters say that's only because I'm used to the 64 controller. And they're probably right. One thing I know for sure is that game controls feel MUCH better with this controller than they do with the GameCube controller. Even GameCube games feel better with this controller. Initially I was upset when I bought this, because the cord is pretty short and I assumed it had to be plugged in to the Wii. But you just plug it into your Wii remote, like you would a NunChuk. I admit this just in case someone out there has the same concern. This is a great, high quality product. No need to buy a billion Wii accessories. Just get a few of these and you should be good. You may even find yourself using this in place of the remote to play some of your Wii games!
For Virtual Console Games - works great! August 6, 2010 B. Thompson Now first off - not a gamer, my husband is. When we got our Wii he was excited about the idea of the Virtual Console and playing nostalgic games from older Nintendo systems. He only found out after purchasing Mario Kart 64 via the VC, that it required a Classic Controller. Oops. He didn't run off to buy the controller so the game icon on the Wii Menu has sat there for months taunting him. I decided as part of his b-day present I'd pick one of these up. -- I've gone back and forth between purchasing this or a GameCube Controller since it sounded like you'd need one or both depending on the games you played. After looking at Nintendo's official site, it seems like most of the VC games my husband would be interested in can be played with this controller. So I bought the CC Pro because it seemed better ergonomically than the CC.
I couldn't help myself, I had to open up the box and try it out first so I could be sure it worked well. Now mind you I've only just tried it with Mario Kart 64... straight out of the package plug it into the Wiimote and go! Never playing the game before even back in the day it took me a while to figure out which buttons did what (I know, lame) but once I got the hang of it and played a solo race, I was impressed. The feel is light which I find to be a plus, the analog joy sticks were quite responsive, and I liked the placement of the L & R buttons -- Seemed fine to me. It is a bit wide but I have long fingers and my husband has big hands so this should work out great for him. I will update this review should he share a different perspective.
I give it 4 stars because it's not wireless on its own and frankly had to do too much research to know if this was the controller I wanted. I would appreciate clarity from Nintendo - like an exact list of all the games you can play with each controller vs. looking at the games individually. Would've made the purchase easier.
decent, but still needs work! August 6, 2010 Video Game History (United States) this controller is an improvement over the previous, yes.... but there are still other aspects that need work.
The dual thumbsticks don't feel exactly as they should, and the buttons can be clunky.
I still recommend it, I just had higher hopes. Maybe next version!!
4 out of 5 stars.
