4 out of 5 stars Great game with just a few cons   March 5, 2010

Wii Sports resort is the sequel to Wii Sports, and it is just as fun if not more fun. The problem is not only that there are repeat games from Wii Sports, but you are also required to have an accessory to the wiimote (the accessory is called the Wii Motion Plus), and you can't play the games without it. There are 12 main sports, and there are 2-3 versions of that sport, so you are basically getting about 25 games. The sports included are:

Swordplay-This is the most active of the games, as you hold the wiimote as a sword and swing it at your target. You can swing any way you want such as up to down, or right to left.

Wakeboarding-This is the sport when you are on a board, and you are holding onto a rope and being pulled behind a boat. You hold the wiimote horizonatlly in this game, and you yank it up in order to do tricks on top of waves.

Archery-This is basically using a bow and arrow to hit a target. You need the nunchuk for this game. You hold the nunchuk in the right hand (unless you are left-handed, then you hold it in the left), and you pull back the nunchuk, holding onto the z button. You release the z button when you want to release the arrow.

Frisbee-You hold the wiimote like you would a frisbee, and you make the motion of tossing a frisbee in the direction you want it to go. You might want to make sure you have the wrist strap on while playing this game.

Basketball-You don't dribble, you just shoot and run. Really, the only way the wiimote is used is when you shoot, you throw the wiimote like you would a ball. . .but only in one hand.

Power Cruising-This sport is basically riding a motorcycle on water. You need the nunchuk for this game, and you hold both it and the wiimote like you would hold on to handlebars. You twist the wiimote in order to accelerate.

Cycling-This is bike riding. You need the nunchuk, and you hold both it and the wiimote vertically. Then you alternate swinging them upward as if you were pedaling your bike with your hands. You have to watch your stamina, though, and don't tire out.

Golf-This is exactly the same thing for Wii Sports, only it has different greens (different courses). You hold the wiimote down like a golf club and make the action of swinging it.

Table Tennis-This is much like tennis, only you are playing it on a table. You swing the wiimote in order to hit the ping-pong ball back to your opponent.

Bowling-Almost exactly like the Wii Sports verion, this game has one big difference. Like a real bowling ball, it twists dramatically with your wrist. You really have to focus on keeping the ball straight, which makes it a bit harder than the original game for Wii Sports.

Canoeing-In this game you paddle a set course by using the wiimote like you would a paddle. You paddle on the opposite side of the direction you want to go just like real canoeing.

Air Sports-These games are really easy to do, and they only require you to hold the wiimote and aim it. The sports included are skydiving, island flyover, and dogfight.

These games are really fun, but it is a huge letdown that you cannot play against others unless you buy another Wii Motion Plus accessory. Also, I do not see why they put golf, table tennis, and bowling in the game when they had them in previous games. Although it does have a few minor flaws, this is still a great game that you will love if you like Wii Sports.

5 out of 5 stars I love it!   March 5, 2010

I am having so much fun with these games. 4i days in a row and I am not at all bored. I use this in conjunction with wii fit plus, wii fit allows you to add in any extra activities you are doing and get a calorie burning count and credit for extra workouts. I am using the Sport Resort after meals to keep my blood sugar in check, it should be a diabetic treatment it works so well. I love the bike riding, no problem "peddling" with my arms, it is a really good workout and I wouldn't be out peddling a bike the real way. I am getting fantastic at Frisbee Golf and bowling, the only thing I don't like is the sword playing, just a bit of wild thrashing with the wiimote and the opponent is off the platform, no fun. I recommend this to anyone who does not get a lot of exercise for whatever reason, age, illness, back problems or snowy winter weather, it is fun and it is the best Christmas present I have gotten in ages. The new motion remote is great and seems to work well with the original sports.

5 out of 5 stars Wii Sports Resort Got Us Playing as a Family!   March 5, 2010

I played this at a store at Xmas time while waiting for my kids to pick out some games. It looked like a lot of fun. I bought the game a few weeks later. My family has enjoyed it immensely. We have had competitions trying to outscore each other on archery and waverunning. My arm actually hurt after practicing frisbee all afternoon. It is very addictive. I haven't yet tried all the games but I will. I like that there are lots of choices of games and a number of levels of play for each. I give this game a two thumbs up!

Sports Resort is addictive. Features about 12 games - swordplay, frizbee, jet ski, water surfing, sky diving, cycling, basketball shooting, table tennis, golf, bowling and a couple other which escapes my memory at the moment. They'll good fun and most have a couple options, for example the swordplay features duel (one-on-one challenge - best of three), quick slice (one-on-one who slices in the correct direction the fastest - win ten to win the game) and showdown (single player challenge - take on the other Miis take three hits = game over).
Its all fun whether you play on your own or challenge a friend or two.

This game is a fun family game that's meant to be played in groups. By yourself, it only has limited value before it gets old.
